Zoe's Song

Perhaps it's going to be a tradition that during "50 Songs in 90 Days" I write a song for each of my dogs.  Last year, Zoe got one first, and then of course, Scout got one of her own as well.  (You can click here for Zoe's song from last year, and here for Scout's.)

And again, this year, a song about Zoe just sorta happened.  I try not to play favorites, but Zoe seems to be my little shadow all the time.  She follows me around everywhere and I just love that.  She's really the perfect little companion.  Not one mean bone in her body.  Sweetness down to the core.

It's funny- growing up I had dogs that would snap at me, and growl at me and I always wished instead for a dog exactly like Zoe.  My husband laughs at me when I get her face and say to him, "Look, I'm right in her face and she's not even trying to bite me!"

So although my expectations started out a little low, Zoe (Scout, too!) has really raised the bar.  There will never be another dog like her.  I wouldn't even want to try to repeat such greatness.  She is and always will be the dog of my life.

My sweet girls are 14 years old.  A young 14, but I do realize they won't be around forever.  And although that makes me so sad, and honestly sick to my stomach, I appreciate being greeted every morning by them, walking with them every evening, and all the moments in between.

Enjoy the slideshow of my beautiful, gorgeous, sweet-as-can be, ZOE!

There's so many ways that this could have gone,
but you turned out to be my favorite song
Without even a notion of what was to come
it got set in motion and now it can't be undone
the long walks and the lazy days
the lull of it all chased my troubles away

I think that they broke the mold on you
that got it so right, that nothing after would do
There's no reason to try and even get close
So wherever you go I'll be chasing your ghost
If I hold my breath then can I stop the clock
If I lose my key, will you keep things unlocked?
We'll find our way if we ever get lost
There might be a bridge that will just have to cross

What a sweet song! Your voice is so soothing. I have an idea for your 50 songs in 90 days challenge......please write a song about "Embracing Change" which is my inspiration right now to step out on faith for my new business.

She's beautiful, and What a great idea to make a song about your beloved dog. My blue's 13.... but she seems so young.

Wonderful, you did a great job with this. That is how I felt about our last dog, he died three years ago, but I don't think there will ever be another one like him!

Kerri, this post and song were perfect timing for me. I just found out that our dog of 14 years, Tasha, passed away back home. I listened to your song about Zoe and thought of her. Your words and music are a comfort. Thank you for continuing to share your wonderful talent, you have the opportunity to touch people in so many ways with your beautiful art. (Like me today!)

(By the way, I finally found your RSS feed, I've been looking for it every time I come visit - it's practically hidden!)

I love your voice, you've got such beautiful talent and your love for Zoe shows through. Though I don't have a dog but my one of my close friend has a siberian huskey and we agree it's the most gorgeous dog =)

Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving the sweet comment. Here's wishing you a wonderful week ahead!

Lovely tribute to Zoe, and the special relationship we can have with a pet! Zoe really is beautiful!!
Of course you made me think of my own pets as well, we've gone through some trying times with our dog yet I wouldn't trade him for anything. Thanks for sharing this!

Shhh! Don't let my Moose dog know about these original songs! My songs to him are re-makes of other songs and he would be so jealous to know Zoe has original music made for her!

I just love love love this ... and your Muse is equally lovely and inspiring.

Kerri, I pass along a link to my cousin about this song because of how passionate she is about her own doggie-kids. Thanks for sharing more of your 50 songs challenge!

First of all. Thank you for visiting my blog.
If it weren't for your visit I might not have found you and this post. We were fortunate to have a Husky/Mal mix. Her name was Niki and she was and will forever be our favorite. She died several years ago at the age of 13. No matter how many dogs we bring in, we know there will never be another Niki. ( husky's are made that way )
Thank you for your beautiful song.
love the paws and feet photos.
