I've lived in Texas all my life. Many years, that is. So the sweltering summers we have here are no surprise to me. And although I sort of hate the months of July, August, and September because of the extreme heat, I also know it brings some good things.
Such as:
*Very funny weather reports on the news. I can't stand watching the evening news because of what a downer it is with all it's negative stories, but watching the weather guy stretch out his forecast into a 5-7 minute segment when all he really has to say is "It's really hot, and it's going to be really hot as far out as we're able to predict" is pretty good entertainment. The weather men on the channel I watch are very animated when dealing with the weather map/green screen. I don't know how they stay so excited about so little change going on. But I love them for it.
*I run as early as I'm able to get up in the morning. Which isn't really that early, by the way. But I know the earlier I get up, the less painful the heat will be. By the time I've run only about 5 miles, I've sweated enough that it looks (and sometimes feels) like I've run a marathon. And oddly, I enjoy that!
*Afternoon naps on a summer day are so luxurious! And around 3pm it's too hot to do much else anyway.
*The clothes for sale in the stores right now are really meant for fall. And fall in Texas won't be here until late October. So it's easy for me to save money right now!

That last one made me laugh! Thanks for sharing all of your silver lining thoughts. :)
Same thing here in Ohio, though it usually begins to cool down by mid September, and October is the best month of all. We've been blessed this week with cooler temps. How lucky!
Love the Linda blast from the 70s past - blue eyeshadow...and I think I had a top just like that white ruffly one back in high school. :-)
I like your positive spin on the crazy heat! We've had a scorcher in the northeast so I can't imagine what it must be like in your neck of the woods right now. I like sweating ferociously when I work out as well. It makes me feel like I really did it.
Thanks for your sweet comment! :]
Yay for morning runs! They're a perfect way to boost your energy for the rest of the day!
Yeah me too, it will probably look really cool on!=)

I feel your pain with the heat. It's supposed to hit triple digits in the Bay Area tomorrow and I can anticipate my need for an afternoon nap already.
LOL I really appreciated your commentary on Texas weather! "It's always hot" And afternoon naps sound wonderful!
Here in Arizona, the news will break into a show just to let us know it raining outside. It is so funny!!! We are in monsoon season, so right now we have 110 plus days and humidity, Yuck!
By the way, I did not like EAT, PRAY, LOVE. I was ready to leave half way into the movie.
I'm with you! Totally! I run in a sauna every morning! And I am so excited for fall clothes I wore booties and jeans with a tank top today, big mistake. Will wait for October! XX!
that is so great you also saw an orange dragonfly, i have seen one other now, they must be migrating through here...whatever, they are so huge and beautiful.
our weather guys are so enthusiastic also, what a good point when it seems so run of the mill.
annd i can NEVER buy warm clothes when it is hotter than heck outside...funny girl, you are saving money!!
Dearest kerri, i can't say much about the warm weather here in malaysia as it's always this way the whole year. hehe I guess thatz is one of the reason why i truely adore countries with four seasons. :) That last point did make me giggle!Love that music video! Have a lovely merry happy day and love to you!
