What Was the First Album/CD You Bought?

Since I was the youngest of 3 kids, a lot of my music listening came via my brother and sister's records. But I can clearly remember the first single I bought and it was "Kung Foo Fighting" In fact, just writing that NOW brought back such great memories that I just went to iTunes intending to buy it, but alas...NO "Kung Foo Fighting" What kind of world are we living in???

I also remember buying "Oh What a Lonely Boy" by Andrew Gold. Those two songs were played over, and over and OVER on my little turn table!

I don't remember for sure what my first full length album to buy was, but I know these were some of them:
Heart - Dog and Butterfly
Journey- Escape
Linda Ronstadt- Living in the USA
I LOVED the size of albums. The artwork was so cool to look at. But the big disadvantage was that if you didn't stack them right, they'd warp. And if you weren't good about putting them back in their sleeve, they got scratched. But, all in all, I miss albums. I miss Sound Warehouse. Downloading songs at iTunes just isn't the same.

I started buying music before any other kid I knew. I remember inviting Willie Swearingen over in 3rd or 4th grade to listen to records in my room. My first album (which Mom bought for me but I picked out) was "Talking Book" by Stevie Wonder. I remember opening it up and being pretty excited to see what was inside. I bought it cause I wanted the song "You are the Sunshine of my life". I loved that song and I still do today. After that...I got "Innervisions" by Stevie Wonder ....which, to me, is his best album ever. Then I started buying Beatles Albums and other rock and roll bands. What I wanna know is: what ever happened to Stevie Wonder? His music still sounds good and he just vanished. Somebody help me out.

    Kerri,

Actually, "Kung Fu Fighting" is a stable on Disney Radio. I can not recall just what was my first album, but I'm sure it was a Beatles album...I "Revolver", or "Magical Mystery Tour" comes to mind...

McCartney's first album, or was it Inna Gadda Da Vida? I still love the McCartney album. I also bought "Light my Fire", but it was the wrong version. I thought I was getting the Doors version but it was actually a comedy version of it like "weird Al".
I was so dissapointed. Probably spent a whole $1.25 on that single.

Hmmmm, first single was given to me and it was "When Will I See You Again" by the 3 degrees. I don't remember the first album I bought but it might have been ELO or Earth Wind and Fire. :-)

I with everyone one else. I can't remember exactly what album was the first one. One of my earliest music memories was that my name got drawn for a free cassette of my choice. Olivia Newton-John's "Physical" was all I could find that I recognized. Too funny!

1st Grade, 1969 - my dad got me BJ Thomas, "Raindrops keep Falling in my Head" from the Melody Shop, the record store at Northpark. From that day, I was a regular record buyer.

"Never Mind The Bollocks" Sex Pistols. Listened to a lot of music before that, but that was the first one I shelled out cash for. Then came The Stranglers etc. I believe I still have it in my LP box. Way earlier than that, my brother bought me "She Loves You" Beatles single...

My first album was Donny Osmond, Puppy Love. Man, I was in love with him. I was about 7 then. And I am proud to say that I was an official member of his fan club. The boy was smooth! Check out the video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rsn4KZkUBeg

1st single -- Soul Deep by the Box Tops. First album -- Leaving it all behind by the Grass Roots. Except there is no song called "leaving it all behind." The hit song was "Wait a Million Years"

I am older than everyone! but later I had a Bob Welch album too ;)

Hmmm...I'm not sure. Thinking its gotta be some hardrock 10-20 sec bbq screaming fast music to only be played on a jambox! Otherwise, probably something like Bon Jovi, Def Leopard, or Metallica. Oh my...

    -CKY Volume I
-Incubus's A Crow Left of the Murder
    -Some John Frusciante Album
