What's Your Ideal Sleep Cycle?

My friends and I (one being Juan, who had the fabulous tip of sticking car keys in your mouth to unlock your car from out of range...) were talking about who of us was a night owl and who was an early bird. I'm pretty sure I'm neither. I think I would like to take naps here and there for about 3 hours each dispersed over the course of the 24 hour period that someone decided to refer to as day and night.

I HATE getting up early. When I use to be a teacher I got up before 6am and that is probably a big reason I ended up changing jobs after only 6 or 7 years. But, I also don't like to be out late, which is not so conducive to being a musician, being that I refuse to play after 11pm!

I've read about this idea of napping just whenever you feel like it. You're body will get what it needs, when it needs it. I'm considering testing it out. This is what I do know: Naps are best taken in pajamas. I tried that out a few weeks ago and it was magic. I put on my pajames at 2:30 in the afternoon. My friend's little 3 year old does it, and it just sounded like the right thing to do. And I'm pretty sure it was!!! A nap is most restful in the proper attire.

So I don't have an answer, YET. But my quick answer is "lots of naps".

    I like naps, but if I let myself go, they go WAY too long! I think I need about 9 hours a night - crazy huh?

    And by the way, we tried John's experiment with the keys - and it works! We were cracking up!!

    I agree, 9 hours is my usual, if I dont have to be up early, and I do better 11pm-7am, 8 days a week!

    If I could sleep whenever I wanted, my snooze time would be between 7am and 3pm!

    There was one time in my life when I had the freedom to work and sleep when I wanted, and I swear, that was the cycle that I gravitated towards.

    I just loved going to sleep as the sun was coming up. I guess I'm an owl. Hoot hoot.

    I love getting up early and staying up late and taking naps. And baths too, for that matter.

    For me, I like to fall asleep around 3 in the afternoon and wake up between 10-11 at night. Its perfect because I am both a night owl and a morning person. I just love the peaceful aspects of the day.
