The People Spoke!

At the beginning of the week, when I began my- ahem- novel,  I wrote in my blogpost that I was a feeling a little doubtful and unsure of myself.

Well, several sweet people left comments encouraging me to just write, write, and write some more.  To those sweet people:
I completely agree with you, and it's probably the same advice I would've given to you if you had been in a slump and were asking me for help!  Great mind think alike, and we've all got 'em here!  :)

I've written for about 1 1/2 to 2 hours each day, written at least my goal word count each day, and although it still seems like one, long, wordy mess, I just feels good that I've got my little routine down now.  And, I know I'm going to stick with it for the month.

Another tip several people gave me when I asked for advice was to go back and buy the teapot I mentioned I had passed up over the weekend.  Well, I want all of you to know, I listened to what you had to say regarding that as well!  I realized buying that teapot was a symbolic gesture to myself that I'm going to stick with this challenge and write this novel during NaNoWriMo.
My electric teapot holds up to 1.7 liters of water.  I put it on my writing table in my studio where I'm doing most of my writing.  Now I have one less excuse to leave my room!  Which is great, because usually when I  "get up for a cup of tea", other little tasks like petting my sweet doggies, getting the mail, doing a load of laundry, picking lint of my blow dryer, etc. usually end up distracting me.  Now with this new teapot, I'm jacked up on tea, and more or less content to stay in my room and write.

Lately, I'm drinking Trader Joe's Ruby Red Chai or Republic of Tea's Apple Blossom Green Tea.  Just yesterday I bought a new one:
Bentley's Red Rooibos. Oh. Yum.  But it's caffeine free.  That was an accident.  If you're a tea drinker, what tea do you drink?

SO tomorrow I'll go and buy a new camera and an electric teapot. Getting uo fo tea is a "huge problem" for me too, I drink enormous amount of tea so I'm always interrupting what I'm doing. And this is not the right moment to have interruption, I have to work, work, work!! Good job on your writing so much everyday, keep it up!

My favorite tea is made by Tempestt. It is a black lavender tea. It smells heavenly and is delicious w/a bit of sugar and a dash of (soy)milk. I also like English Breakfast, chai, peppermint, and ginger tea.

i am so happy that you're feeling this encouraged + inspired! the most important thing a writer can do, besides read, is write. keep it up, my dear!

have fun with your tea :)

bobbi i hope you found a gigantic teapot like me that inspired your work!! :)

oh- and when i'm feeling completely decadent, i have a chai tea bag steamed in vanilla soy milk (no water) it's the BEST. but i can't drink boat loads of it the way i can water-y tea. and here is my weird top secret cherry on top version: just a little but of cool whip melting on to the top of the tea...it's my home version of froth on top.

Green tea with jasmine flowers or black chai with honey. Mmmmmmm.... however, nothing beats a caramel macchaiato!

So glad you're writing and enjoying your new beautiful tea pot!

I drink chai tea every morning. Sweetly brewed by my man with a touch of agave for sweetness. I love a good red rooibos and a tea I buy in bulk from Starwest Botaniclas called Balancing Tea. When I'm overwhelmed or feel I need balance this tea works magic. It's full of deep roots and hearty flavors that feed the soul, baby :)

Have a deliciously magical weekend, dahling!

Good idea to put the tea pot right where you're working! Right now I'm enjoying a cup of peppermint tea (ok, I'm actually procrastinating, I have something important to do of course), but when I really want to endulge in something extravagant I pick up something from the London Tea&Herb Company. They have a really good tea selection, and their fruit teas taste exactly as good as they smell, which is something most ordinary fruit teas don't do...

Love your teapot Kerri...I've never used an electric one...do you make a whole pot of tea or does it just keep the water hot? I have a mini Mr.Coffee 4 cup coffee maker that I make my tea in. I make a couple of pots a day and don't drink coffee anymore. Gave up my morning coffee over 4 years ago and love it! I make pots of Red Rose combined with Blueberry Breeze (it's a blueberry green tea). I have to have my red rose black tea...not just for the caffine but because I like a full body tea. Plain green tea just doesn't have any flavor and I don't like to add a bunch of honey just to get flavor ;) So happy you are on a roll with your writing...my niece Cortney had a slow start this week as well because she had a cold but she's using the weekend to get back on track. I'm rootin' for ya both. Have a great afternoon, fondly, Roberta

FANTASTIC, writing a book, i've always thought that would be the h - artist task in the the art world, kerry. blocked for paint ideas are one thing, but blocked for words, i struggle more...you just keep going for that brass ring...it's not to far off! xo

i am laughing because i recall studying for exams, drinking lots of iced tea and finding myself constantly getting up to either replenish said tea or, well, dispose of it!

congrats with riding through the first hump of writing! i've always found if i just establish a routine, and stay ruthlessly committed to it, something will emerge!

can't wait to read your novel/novella/short story/haiku :)

xo lis

and i love any kind of mint tea with lots of honey in it!

Very cute teapot! I'm glad you've decided to push through with the writing - it's inspiring! I'm really more of a coffee person, but I do like green tea with mint and lemon. Oh, and Republic of Tea used to make a delicious Cinnamon Cardamom Tea. Don't know if they still do.

Good luck Kerri! I spend most of my time having no clue what I'm doing...isn't that part of the fun?

Kerri, you're making me all inspired to write again! I did the "nanowrimo" thing in 2006 and actually completed my word count. Instead of tea, I drank a small glass of port wine during every session. It made me feel like a true “Heminway-esque” author. :) I always imagined I should have a cigar burning too, but yuck…there’s only so far I’ll go for art!

A lot of my "book" (as I generously refer to it) is pure filler and rambling. But sitting down that way every day to write - I did come out with some sections that I was proud of and could be short stories by themselves.

Maybe when you're done you'd consider sharing a section of your story on your blog? I'd love to read it!

Wow! One HUGE challenge after another! I'm impressed! It's great that you've got such supportive readers in a time of self-doubt. Also, congratulations on the new teapot!

I drink Guayaki Organic, Yerba Mate tea. Not really a tea, it's from some tree bark.

Hey, where are you getting your Trader Joes tea? Is there a Trader Joes hiding in the Dallas area I don't know about?

Have fun writing.
