Please Give

Today was rainy, and at times, just cloudy and gray.  It felt like a perfect day to go to the movies.  And so, I did.

I went to a dollar theater near my house.  I've been before, but I don't think I've ever been in theater number 15.  I'm quite sure I would've remembered the odor.  It smelled like a cross between kitty litter, cat pee, and bad body odor.
my friend's cute cat that does not smell like kitty litter, cat pee, or body odor!
But I really wanted to see the movie I went in there for:  Please Give.  (As in, Please Give my dollar theater a big can of air freshener.) And so, as disgusting as it sounds, I stayed in that stinky theater and actually enjoyed myself!

I  loved the movie.  Love pretty much anything Catherine Keener is in.  I appreciate that she chooses indie movies, and I really appreciate that she looks her age!  I know in Hollywood, that's a brave thing.  And actually, I think that our youth-obsessed, age-ist culture bleeds out way, way, way beyond Hollywood.  In fact, my friend and I just made a pact the other day to say NO to botox.  But that is a whole 'nother blog...

So back to the movie...I would've enjoyed it way more in my much nicer smelling home.  It's probably out on DVD, or will be soon.  I do recommend it- It's funny, sad, touching, and thought provoking.

You have me intrigued about this movie - if it was worth sticking it out in a stinky theater it must be good! I love the photo of your friends' cat too - really cute!

Dear Kerri-thanx for stopping by my blog...just for the record though...I have a sweet tooth! Cheesecake, apple pie, shortbread cookies (only Scottish) but I try not to indulge too much. Yeah..no t.v. or movies...complete nerdo:)Glad you enjoyed your movie though:) I do like Indie ones!

Hi Kerri,
I've never heard of a dollar theatre, sounds too smelly for me though! We get dvds delivered online although I must admit, there's nothing to beat seeing a film on the big screen! xx

I love her, I have never heard of this movie, WILL be checking it out for sure. Living in a smaller city we miss out on some indie releases, sadly enough. Oh, the dollar theatre! Yes, they can stink! And one time, at a sketchy dollar theater in Seekonk, MA, I was outside and this young kid pulled out a watergun and aimed it at me, but it was one of those ones that looks real, like, it was black, and I thought for a split second, "Oh no, I'm going to die outside of the dollar theatre in Seekonk!" LOL! XX!

Thanks for the recommendation. It's not on DVD yet, but I did save it on Netflix. I miss our dollar theater. It's nice to see a movie on the big screen every once in a while, without having to take out a loan first. (Our AMC theater is up to $11.)

Love Catherine Keener--I'm looking forward to this.

Never heard of the movie but will have to check it out. I know about cat pee, I have a little one (Maggie) who does not like things (rugs, towels, clothes, etc) on the floor. She loves to let us know when we forget, by peeing on them. Ivan would like her to go to the farm but we have had her for 12 years and she is just helping us keep the house clean.

By the way, your stamps are in the mail, you should have them by Thursday!

Love anything Catherine Keener is in as well, and especially that's she's a BEAUTIFUL woman! So happy to hear your thoughts on this, as living in California produces a lot of people who are beginning to NOT look like people!! Friends and family included. Sigh.

Enjoyed your post today :)
